Google PageRank

PageRank is a link evaluation principle developed by Larry Page: Links convey authority, quality counts more than quantity. Google has not shown the public PageRank value since 2016; internally, the concept continues to influence the ranking.

At Google's PageRank (often simply asPR(abbreviated) is an algorithm developed by Larry Page (hence the name PageRank) for evaluating and weighting a website. This is based on the link structure of the page. Not only the number of incoming links (quantity) but also their strength (quality) plays a decisive role.

PageRank and SEO

For SEOs, PageRank was the number one metric for link exchange for a long time, in accordance with the motto "No high PageRank – no link exchange“. For many, it still is, however, other factors, such as the thematic relevance of the linking page, now play a significantly more important role. However, it should not be completely ignored. Google itself recently took a position on PageRank with the statement that it is in regard to the Ssearch engine optimizationabsolutely no longer matters. However, a PageRank update still takes place from time to time. Google certainly wouldn't do this without reason.
Important when linking a page with high PageRank is to set the link to "follow" and not to "no follow," otherwise the PageRank will not be passed on.

How do I identify the PageRank of my website?

There are numerous browser plug-ins available on the internet, free of charge, which can be used to easily check the PageRank of a page. SEOquake is certainly one of the most popular among them. Of course, a PageRank analysis can also be done with any common, paid SEO tool such asSistrixorXovipossible.

By the way, there is no fixed period within which a Google PageRank update takes place. Sometimes it has already taken six months to happen.
